How to use

  1. Enter a number with its country.
  2. Write the message.
  3. Copy the link or download the QR code.

Worked example

+44 7700 900123 with “Hi, is the table free on Friday?” becomes https://wa.me/447700900123?text=Hi%2C%20is%20the%20table%20free%20on%20Friday%3F

Supported formats and limits

InputPhone number, message
OutputLink, QR code (PNG/SVG)
Enginelibphonenumber-js validation; URL encoding; QR encoder

Limitations

  • The link opens WhatsApp only on devices where it is installed or WhatsApp Web is available.
  • A valid-looking number does not prove it has a WhatsApp account. Numbers outside the national plan (such as UK 07700 900xxx drama numbers) get a link plus a warning.

Questions

What format does the number need?

Any common format works: spaces, brackets, dashes, a leading + or 00. The number is parsed with libphonenumber-js and written into the link as international digits without the +, as wa.me requires.

Does the link check that the number uses WhatsApp?

No. It checks length and the country's numbering plan only. Open the link yourself before sharing it.
