How to use
- Paste URLs (optionally followed by changefreq, priority and a lastmod date), or choose your site's build folder and enter its base URL.
- Check the invalid and duplicate lines, or the pages left out (noindex, error pages, canonicals pointing elsewhere).
- Download sitemap.xml (or the ZIP of split files and the index) and reference it in robots.txt.
Worked example
Three URLs, one of them https://example.com/search?q=a&page=2, produce a <urlset> with three <url><loc> entries, with & escaped as &.
Supported formats and limits
| Input | URL list, Folder of HTML files + base URL |
|---|---|
| Output | sitemap.xml, Split sitemap-N.xml files plus a sitemap index (ZIP) above 50,000 URLs or 50 MB |
| Limits | Up to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB per sitemap file (larger lists are split into several files plus an index). Folders up to 20,000 files. |
| Engine | XML builder with entity escaping and URL normalization |
Limitations
- Only pages you list or that exist as files in the folder are included.
- lastmod from file dates is only accurate if your build keeps real modification times.
Questions
What happens in folder mode?
Each HTML file becomes a URL (index.html as its directory, with optional clean URLs). Pages marked noindex and error pages are skipped, a page's own canonical URL is used when it points to the same site, and lastmod can come from file dates.
What if I have more than 50,000 URLs?
Sitemaps are limited to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB each, so larger sets are split into numbered sitemap files plus a sitemap index that lists them.
