How to use
- Choose one or more folders.
- Press Find duplicates. Only files that share a size are read, and their first 64 KB is compared before any full hash, which keeps scans fast.
- Review the groups, sorted by wasted space, pick which copy to keep (or apply a rule such as oldest or shortest path), and export the CSV.
Worked example
The sample (6 files in nested folders) shows 2 groups: three copies of a 33.9 KB text log under different names and two copies of a photo, with 68.0 KB you could free.
Supported formats and limits
| Input | Folders or files |
|---|---|
| Output | Duplicate groups (CSV report) |
| Limits | Up to 50,000 files per scan. |
| Engine | Size pre-grouping, then SHA-256 of the first 64 KB, then full streaming SHA-256 (hash-wasm) in a Web Worker |
Limitations
- Browsers cannot delete files from your disk; use the report to remove copies yourself.
- Similar-looking but different files (resized photos) are not duplicates.
Questions
Will it delete the duplicates?
No. Browsers cannot delete files from your disk. Use the list of groups, or the CSV export that marks one copy per group to keep and the rest as duplicates, to delete them yourself.
Does it find similar photos?
No. Only byte-for-byte identical files count. A resized or re-saved photo has different content and is not reported as a duplicate.
